Kevin Ginkel Was Unavailable Due To Illness On Tuesday
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Kevin Ginkel (illness) was one of the team's only relievers who didn't take to the mound on Tuesday. The Diamondbacks went 13 innings deep against the Colorado Rockies. Along the way, relievers Chris Devenski and Yoan Lopez both blew save opportunities. After the game, Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that Ginkel was unavailable because he was sick. Ginkel appeared in three games during the team's opening series against the San Diego Padres. He pitched 2.1 innings and allowed two hits, one walk and no runs while striking out three. With Joakim Soria (calf) on the injured list, Ginkel could see himself getting some save opportunities, but it will likely be more of a committee situation with Devenski and Lopez also in the mix.
