Ketel Marte Continues Home Run Tear
11 months agoArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte hit his third home run in his last six games, a 400-foot boomer to right center field in the third inning of Friday's 4-2 loss against the Baltimore Orioles. Marte's homer, his eighth of the season, cut the deficit 2-1 and proved to be his only hit of the night in five at-bats. He continues to be a more effective hitter when playing under the lights as Marte, who started as the team's designated hitter on Friday, is hitting .321/.370/.519 (.889 OPS) at night compared to hitting just .244 during the day, albeit with a stellar .556 slugging percentage and an OPS of .859. DFS players should consider adding Marte to their lineups when he gets the chance to play after dark. Overall, Marte is off to a great start this season, slashing .295/.345/.538 with eight home runs, 19 RBI, 28 runs, and a stolen base over 174 plate appearances.

Ketel Marte Dealing With Strained Hamstring
33 mins agoUpdating a previous report, the Arizona Diamondbacks announced that All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte (hamstring) was removed from Friday's 6-4 win over the hosting Washington Nationals with a left-hamstring strain. Marte hit what should have been an easy triple in the first inning off right-hander Jake Irvin but strained his hammy rounding the bases and settled for a double before limping off the field and being replaced by Garrett Hampson. The 31-year-old, who just signed a six-year, $116 million deal with the D-backs the other day, looked to be in quite a bit of pain, so fantasy managers may want to prepare for a potential trip to the injured list. If that comes to fruition, Hampson would most likely be in line for most of the playing time at the keystone for the Snakes. Marte has been one of the most productive second baseman in recent seasons, so he should be stashed in all fantasy leagues if he goes on the IL.

Ketel Marte Pulled Early With Leg Injury On Friday
3 hours agoArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte (leg) pulled up lame at second base in the first inning on Friday against the Washington Nationals after what would have been an easy triple against right-hander Jake Irvin. Marte walked off the field and exited the game with a limp due to an undisclosed leg injury. Fantasy managers will want to keep a close eye on this one, as the 31-year-old All-Star is one of the best overall second baseman in the game. The injury comes after he just signed a six-year, $116 million contract extension this week. Marte was clearly in pain and could be headed for the injured list, but we'll have to wait for more word on the specific nature of his injury. Garrett Hampson replaced Marte at the keystone and would be in line for regular work at second base if Marte requires an extended absence.

Ketel Marte Sitting On Thursday After Signing Extension
1 day agoArizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is getting his first day off in the campaign on Thursday evening when the Diamondbacks continue a series against the New York Yankees. On Wednesday, Marte went 1-for-2 at the plate with two walks after signing a six-year $116.5 million extension. Through six games this season, Marte has posted a strong .292/.433/.375 slash line with two doubles with a 6:4 BB:K. Last season, the 31-year-old enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career as he posted a stellar .292/.372/.560 slash line with 23 doubles, 36 home runs, seven swiped bags. With Marte sitting out on Thursday, the Diamondbacks will give Garrett Hampson the nod at the keystone. Hampson is worth a look as a low-risk value play in DFS facing New York right-hander Carlos Carrasco.

Ketel Marte Agrees To Six-Year Extension With Diamondbacks
2 days agoArizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte agreed to a six-year, $116 million contract extension on Wednesday, sources tell ESPN's Jesse Rogers. Marte was already under contract through the 2028 season, but his new extension will start this season, and it includes a player option in 2031 for $11.5 million. With escalators, the deal could be worth up to $149.5 million. Marte also receives a five-team no-trade clause. He will be a 10/5 player in 2026 and can veto any trade at that point. The 31-year-old Dominican switch-hitter is one of the best second baseman in the game, both on offense and defense, and is coming off a career year in 2024 in which he slashed .292/.372/.560 with a .932 OPS and career-highs in home runs (36) and RBI (95) in 136 games played. Marte heads into Wednesday's game in New York with six hits in his first 26 plate appearances in 2025 with two doubles in five games.
