Keone Kela Placed On Injured List
4 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates placed closer Keone Kela on the injured list on Thursday, but no specific injury was listed, leading us to believe it's related to COVID-19. Kela has also not been active in summer camp and the Pirates haven't provided an explanation for his absence. He was sliding down draft boards as the Pittsburgh closer because of his absence in camp, and now it's a foregone conclusion that he won't be ready by Opening Day next Friday. The 29-year-old had a 2.12 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 33 K's in 29 2/3 innings last year. It's unclear exactly who the Bucs will go with in the ninth inning to begin the year, but Kyle Crick seems like the likeliest candidate for saves. Those searching for saves should add him immediately.
