6 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen (heart), who called 911 to report an irregular heartbeat last week, said his situation required that doctors in Denver use an electrical shock to get his heart back in rhythm. He is now feeling good and was upbeat after throwing a 16-pitch, "touch-and-feel" bullpen session. There remains no timetable for his return, but Jansen is optimistic that he will return before his four- to six-week recovery timeline. He has also started taking blood thinners to help with his atrial fibrillation. Jansen will likely have another surgery in the offseason after having surgery to address the situation in 2012. Manager Dave Roberts said Jansen will have more bullpen sessions Wednesday and Friday, will work out in the weight room this week and will travel with the team to Seattle this weekend. The bullpen has struggled without Jansen already, and Scott Alexander blew a save chance on Monday. Alexander is still likely the guy to own with Jansen out, but Kenta Maeda and Ross Stripling have been moved to the bullpen and could also factor in in the ninth inning.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
