Kenley Jansen Given The Day Off On Tuesday
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen wasn't utilized in a save opportunity in Tuesday's game against the San Diego Padres. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided to give Blake Treinen the ninth inning and Treinen went on to record the save, despite giving up a solo home run to Jake Cronenworth in the inning. After the game, Roberts said that Jansen was available for the game, but he decided to give him the day off. He explained that Jansen had pitched a lot lately and that he wanted to keep his closer "frisky and fresh." Jansen pitched three out of four days from Thursday through Sunday, earning saves in his latter two appearances. Expect to see him called upon the next time a save opportunity pops up.
