Ken Giles Could Start Throwing In Two Weeks
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Ken Giles (finger) could being throwing a baseball in about two weeks, according to Jerry Dipoto, the Mariners' president of baseball operations. The 31-year-old is dealing with a tendon strain in the middle finger of his right hand, his throwing hand. He doesn't have a clear timeline for a return at this point, but he should remain out for at least another month or so. He has a chance to be the Mariners' closer once he's back on the diamond, making him someone worthy of a speculative IL spot in deep leagues where saves are scarce. For now, the Mariners certainly look to have a closer-by-committee situation. Drew Steckenrider and Diego Castillo have each converted a save and Paul Sewald could be in the mix for saves in the near future as well.
