Kelvin Herrera Stifles Yankees For Save
7 years agoKansas City Royals closer Kelvin Herrera shut down the Yanks for his ninth save on Friday, allowing no baserunners and striking out one in the inning. Herrera has been held back in the saves this season by the fact that the Royals have been a pretty terrible team, but with the team starting to come around, he should see some more opportunities. He still has some concerns, like the 8.1 K/9 that is the lowest it’s been in five years, but he still hasn’t walked a single batter all year and is carrying just a 1.08 ERA so far in 2018. Herrera has the ability to be a dominant closer, and if he can keep his walks down, he can likely survive the depressed strikeout rate.
