Kelvin Herrera Agrees With White Sox
6 years agoThe Chicago White Sox agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal with free-agent relief pitcher Kelvin Herrera on Monday, according to sources. The deal includes a vesting option for a third year. The 29-year-old reliever had a sharp 2.44 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 38 strikeouts in 44 1/3 innings and 17 saves between the Royals and Nationals in 2018. Fourteen of his 17 closures came in KC. Herrera should compete with Jace Fry, Alex Colome and Nate Jones for the ninth-inning job in Chicago, and Herrera will be a low-end fantasy closing target if he wins the job.
