Kaiden Guhle Signs Six-Year Extension With Canadiens
8 months agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle signed a six-year extension on Wednesday. The deal, which is worth $33.3 million, will kick in from the 2025-26 NHL campaign. Guhle became the third blue-liner to ink a new contract with the Canadiens this week, joining Justin Barron and Arber Xhekaj. Guhle is the most productive of the three, having amassed 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 70 games last season with 178 blocks and 116 hits. The 22-year-old, who was a first-round pick in 2020, has tallied 40 points (10 goals, 30 assists) in 114 career contests. Guhle plays an important role for Montreal as Mike Matheson's partner on the first defensive pairing, but his fantasy value is limited due to his lack of power-play time.

Kaiden Guhle Will Travel With Team
6 days agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle (quadriceps) will travel with the team on their upcoming road trip. Guhle has been sidelined since the end of January due to this injury. However, it appears the 23-year-old is nearing a return to action. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to their next contest on Tuesday evening in St. Louis. If Guhle cannot suit up in this contest, he could return on Friday evening when the Canadiens travel to Philadelphia to face the Flyers. Through 44 total contests this season, the former 16th-overall selection from the 2020 NHL Draft has found the back of the net four times and added 10 helpers. However, Guhle carries high fantasy value in category leagues as he logged 67 hits (1.5 per game) and 100 blocked shots (2.3 per game).

Kaiden Guhle Out Indefinitely Following Surgery
2 months agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Kaiden Guhle is expected to miss significant time following surgery to repair a lacerated quadriceps muscle. The team has ruled him out indefinitely. Guhle sustained the injury in Tuesday's contest against the Winnipeg Jets. He made his 44th appearance of the season in the game. The 23-year-old has tallied four goals and 14 points with 100 blocks and 67 hits. Jayden Struble, who was recalled from the AHL on Wednesday, appears set for a regular role in the team with Guhle out. Struble is a more physical defenseman, with 53 hits registered in 26 outings this season, but he offers far less offensively. The 23-year-old has posted two goals and three assists with 27 shots.

Justin Barron, Kaiden Guhle Back For Canadiens Thursday
5 months agoMontreal Canadiens defensemen Justin Barron (upper body) and Kaiden Guhle (upper body) will rejoin the lineup on Thursday versus Washington. Barron returns from a three-game absence, while Guhle has been absent for five games. The two will provide a good boost for the Canadiens backline. Guhle, who boasts four points (one goal, three assists) in five games this season, is the more attractive fantasy option of the pair. He will skate with Mike Matheson on the first defensive pairing. Barron, who has been limited to one assist in seven outings, joins Jayden Struble on the third pairing.
