New Jersey Devils goaltender Kaapo Kahkonen earned a shutout as part of a 4-0 win over the rival New York Islanders on Sunday. The blanking was the first shutout of the season for the 27-year-old who was shipped to the Devils from the San Jose Sharks prior to the March 8 NHL trade deadline. It's been a tough season playing for a weak Sharks club as Kahkonen still sits with a 3.69 goals-against average and an .897 save percentage across 34 games, going 7-22-0 in that time. With the win, the Devils remain in the playoff hunt as they sit with a 35-33-4 record, five points back of the Washington Capitals for the second Wild Card spot in the east, although Washington owns two games in hand.--Brenton Kemp
