4 years agoJustin Rose is worth a look on any USGA setup. He has finished in the top 30 in 50% of his U.S. Open appearances, which also includes five top-fives and a win in 2013. Rose also boasts an immaculate resume at Torrey Pines, ranking eighth in this field in average strokes gained per round on the south course, bolstered by a 2019 Farmers Insurance Open win. With finishes of ninth at the 2020 PGA Championship at Harding Park and third at the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach, Rose should be right at home at a West Coast major championship. While the 10-time PGA Tour winner has been relying a lot on his putter lately, he tends to rise to the occasion on longer and more difficult tracks, with positive splits on courses measuring over 7,400 yards and on courses with narrow fairways and thick rough. Rose's fantastic history at Torrey Pines, USGA setups and long and difficult golf courses must be considered by fantasy managers this week.--Andy Lack

4 weeks agoJustin Rose played really well at Pebble Beach in mostly pristine conditions. The English golfer had a much rougher time contending with Torrey Pines and missed the cut twice along the way. Bay Hill can show its teeth at any time. The 11-time PGA Tour winner is 44 not 34 anymore and the long 7,468-yard course might be a little too lengthy. Rose has shown an inability to keep his irons in play and ranks 146th off the tee and 150th approaching the green in 2025. 2024 was equally bad (119th and 157th). When the conditions got somewhat rough last year, Rose withered and shot a 77 to miss the cut. Breezy conditions are expected Thursday which makes the odds to miss the cut again for Rose intriguing. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

2 months agoIt has been a long and, at times, frustrating history for Justin Rose at Torrey Pines. The 44-year-old has played in 17 total events at Torrey and has had as many quality finishes as missed cuts in that span. His most recent MC came here a few weeks ago at the Farmers Insurance Open after a second-round, 80. There is reason to have hope though, as he notched a T3 finish at Pebble two weeks ago with drastically improved stats that plagued him in San Diego the first time. The downside is that little comparisons can be made between the two courses aside from grass types. At $8,200 on FanDuel, Rosey has some upside to take advantage of, especially ownership-wise, but the drastic range of outcomes given the impending weather and length of the South Course makes him more of someone to avoid.--Todd McGill - RotoBaller

2 months agoJustin Rose may be 44 years old but the English golfer has plenty left in the tank. His last win came at the 2023 ATT Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Rose's results may be more sporadic but he did nearly win The Open in 2024. A final round 67 was only two strokes off Xander Schauffele's 65. Rose could contend or flame out. At his debut PGA event in 2025, Rose went 69-80 at the Farmers Insurance Open. That 80 was ugly with three bogeys and a double bogey in the final six holes. The golfer has 11 career wins on the PGA Tour and is capable of rebounding at any time. With more benign conditions expected at Pebble Beach, Rose could be a possibility for DFS. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

2 months agoJustin Rose is set to make his first start of the 2025 season at the Farmers Insurance Open, taking place at Torrey Pines. He has a strong track record at this tournament, finishing T56 in 2024 and sixth in both 2022 and 2023. Over the past 12 months, Rose ranks in the 72nd percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from over 200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because, at last year's Farmers Insurance Open, over 34% of approach shots were from this distance. Given his past performances at this event, Rose is a solid option to consider for DFS lineups this week.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller
