Justin Bour Announces His Retirement
2 years agoFirst baseman Justin Bour officially announced his retirement from professional baseball on his Twitter account on Friday. "There comes a time in every players career when they know it's time to hang them up. Today is that day for me. Thank you baseball and everyone that helped me along the way," Bour wrote. The 34-year-old left-handed slugger made his MLB debut in 2014 with the Miami Marlins and spent five years with them. He also saw short stints with the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Angels, but he hadn't played in the big leagues since 2019 with the Angels. Bour's best year came in 2017 with Miami, when he hit .289 with a career-high 25 home runs and 83 RBI in 108 games. He finishes his six-year career with a .253/.337/.457 slash line, .794 OPS, 92 home runs, 303 RBI and 206 runs scored in 559 games played.
