Junior Guerra Arrives At Summer Camp
4 years agoThe Arizona Diamondbacks announced that relief pitcher Junior Guerra has arrived to work out with the team at Chase Field on Wednesday. Guerra tested positive for COVID-19 but has already returned two negatives within 24 hours and is being allowed to return to action with his teammates. The 35-year-old veteran righty is expected to serve as one of the primary setup men, along with Andrew Chafin and Hector Rondon, ahead of closer Archie Bradley this year. Guerra has started 60 games in his five-year career, but he's expected to pitch out of the 'pen in Arizona. He had a 3.55 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 77 K's and 36 walks in 83 2/3 relief innings in 2019 with Milwaukee. Guerra might not even be the next man up for saves in Arizona if Bradley is injured or demoted from the closer's role. You can ignore him for now in most mixed leagues.
