Jung Ho Kang, Chad Kuhl Working To Play In Games
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates infielder Jung Ho Kang (wrist) and starting pitcher Chad Kuhl (forearm) are hoping to play in competitive games before the end of the season. Kang had surgery to debride cartilage in his left wrist on Aug. 3, and he recently moved to the team's spring training facility in Florida. He is swinging a bat but has not hit yet. The Pirates will almost certainly decline his $5.5 million club option for next year since he hasn't played in the majors since 2016. Kuhl has missed more than two months with a strained right forearm, but he threw a 30-pitch fastball bullpen session on Monday. The next step is for him to throw his offspeed pitches on flat ground before using them in a bullpen. It's highly unlikely that Kang or Kuhl will play in a major league game to close out the year, so they should be avoided in fantasy leagues.
