Julio Urias Looks Solid In Win Over Pittsburgh
1 year agoLos Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Julio Urias picked up the win on Thursday when he allowed two runs on three hits with eight strikeouts and just one walk across six innings of work in a 5-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. This was a solid bounce-back effort from the 26-year-old southpaw who coughed up five earned runs to the lowly Royals in his previous start. Urias only had one bad inning on Thursday when he allowed three straight hits, including a two-run double to Nick Gonzales in the top of the second inning. He was efficient outside of that second frame and needed just 88 pitches to get through six innings. His eight punchouts were also the most he's had since way back on May 2 when he struck out 10 against Philadelphia. Urias finishes the first half of the season with an underwhelming 6-5 record, 4.76 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 63:14 K/BB ratio over 64 1/3 innings. With that said, this was an encouraging start and something to build on in the second half.
