Julio Teheran Scratched From Start Friday
4 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Julio Teheran (triceps) was scratched from his scheduled start on Friday against the Cleveland Indians as a precaution when he felt tightness in his right triceps. Teheran was replaced by left-handed reliever Derek Holland, who made five starts for the Pittsburgh Pirates last year. Holland had appeared in two games this year before making the emergency start. Teheran beat Cleveland in his debut last week, giving up one run and four hits in his five innings of work. The 30-year-old made nine starts for the Los Angeles Angels last season after spending the previous nine seasons with the Atlanta Braves. It's unknown if the veteran right-hander will require a stint on the injured list, but it doesn't sound like the injury is all that serious.
