Julio Rodriguez Ready For Take-Off In Second half
1 year agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez looks ready to break out in the second half of the season. Coming off a dazzling display of power in the annual Home Run Derby in Seattle, smashing a record 41 home runs in the first round, Rodriguez is looking to continue his strong finish to the first half. Over his last 15 contests prior to the All-Star break, the 22-year-old slashed .303/.352/.409 with one home run, nine RBI, and six stolen bases over 60 at-bats. His overall batting line and counting stats are not what fantasy managers expected when he was drafted back in March but he's showing signs of turning things around. Across 365 at-bats this year, Rodriguez is slashing .249/.310/.411 with 13 home runs, 49 RBI, and 22 stolen bases. He swiped 25 bags last season so he's well on pace to beat that mark. The power has been lacking and the RBI has left a lot to be desired but a lot of that can be attributed to team context. However, the Mariners start off with a relatively light schedule out of the gate as they host the Detroit Tigers for three games followed by a four-game set vs. the Minnesota Twins. It's the perfect opportunity for Rodriguez and the M's to re-assert themselves into the playoff conversation.
