Julio Rodriguez Reaches Twice In Sunday's Win
1 year agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez went 2-for-5 with a double, a run scored, and a strikeout, and was caught stealing in a 7-6 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday. It was a total team effort for the M's on Sunday as they were facing a 6-1 deficit heading into the bottom of the third inning. Rodriguez got things going when he doubled off Taj Bradley and then came around to score via a Ty France double in the same frame. He would single later in the contest and was originally awarded his 20th steal of the season, which was later overturned by a Tampa Bay challenge. Seattle ended up taking 2-of-3 from the Rays after an embarrassing loss on Friday in which they surrendered 15 unanswered runs. Perhaps this victory will give J-Rod and the Mariners some much-needed momentum heading into a road series against the San Francisco Giants. For the season, Rodriguez is slashing .246/.308/.413 with 13 home runs, 43 RBI, and 19 stolen bases over 334 at-bats.
