Julio Jones Focused On Fixing Red-Zone Woes
6 years agoAtlanta Falcons wide receiver Julio Jones is adamant about fixing the team's red-zone woes from last season. "It's very important for me and Matt to be on the same page down there in the red zone," Jones said. "Over the years, I have the ability to make plays, and he has the ability to put balls there. But it's all about us being on the same page, not having to think when we get down there, knowing where he's going to put the ball, and knowing what I can do before he puts the ball in there." Atlanta was 23rd in the league in red-zone offense in 2017, converting 27 of 54 times (50 percent). Jones had nine catches on 24 red-zone targets last year, including the playoffs. Jones had only two red-zone touchdowns all year and three scores total. The addition of rookie Calvin Ridley should help to take some attention off Jones. Jones remains an elite WR1, and he should surpass the three TDs he had last season.
