Josiah Gray Won't Be An Option Anytime Soon
3 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Josiah Gray (shoulder) is "progressing" from a shoulder impingement, but he won't be an option in the near future to help the team's rotation or bullpen. Gray, the team's No. 2 prospect behind catcher Keibert Ruiz, is being brought along slowly. Because of his shoulder issues, the 23-year-old has made just one start for Triple-A Oklahoma City this year, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out 10 and walking two in five innings pitched. If Gray proves he's healthy in the second half, he might be an option for LA's rotation or bullpen near the end of the second half or in the playoffs. The former shortstop is extremely athletic and has an electric fastball-slider mix, so he could also excel in a relief role down the line.
