Josh Smith Back In Lineup Wednesday
10 months agoTexas Rangers shortstop Josh Smith (hand) is back in the team's Cactus League lineup on Wednesday, starting at shortstop and batting second against the Cincinnati Reds. Smith returns to the lineup quickly after he was removed from Tuesday's game early after he was hit by a pitch in the right hand. The 26-year-old could see more playing time early in the season if Corey Seager (hernia) isn't ready to go, but otherwise Smith is expected to play a utility infield role for the defending World Series champions in 2024. Smith saw action at shortstop, third base and left field last year in Texas and hit just .185/.304/.328 with six home runs and 15 RBI in 90 games played in his second year in the big leagues. He is not on the fantasy radar in mixed leagues.
