Josh Donaldson To Lead Off In Yankees Debut
3 years agoNew York Yankees third baseman Josh Donaldson will be the team's leadoff hitter in his debut in Yankees pinstripes on Friday as the team takes on Nathan Eovaldi and the Boston Red Sox. Manager Aaron Boone had been discussing Donaldson as a potential leadoff hitter this spring, so it's not much of a surprise that the 36-year-old will be the first Yankee to the plate this year. Donaldson was swinging a hot bat this swing, crushing three home runs while slashing .321/.387/.679. The former AL MVP underperformed a bit last year, slashing .247/.352/.475. However, he had some promising underlying stats, such as a 99th percentile average exit velocity (94.1 mph). Look for him to put up some big counting stats this year if he can stay healthy.
