Josh Donaldson To Be Put On Waivers
6 years agoThe Toronto Blue Jays plan to put third baseman Josh Donaldson (calf) on revocable waivers on Wednesday, even though his trade value is a fraction of what it was earlier this year because of his injury. The Jays have no motivation to keep him around, and teams must complete deals by Friday to ensure a player is eligible for the playoffs. He has not played in a major league game since May 28 due to a left calf injury, but he went 1-for-2 with a walk and RBI in his first rehab game for Single-A Dunedin on Tuesday. In the 36 games he has played in this year, Donaldson has hit .234 with five home runs and 16 RBI. He should still be stashed in nearly all leagues with the hope that he's traded to a contender and can produce some numbers in the final month of the season.
