The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled goaltender Joseph Woll from his conditioning stint with the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies. The 25-year-old has been out since Dec. 7 when he suffered a high ankle sprain in a win over the Ottawa Senators. Prior to his injury, Woll had overtaken the No. 1 goaltender role with the Maple Leafs over the previously struggling Ilya Samsonov. Woll has produced a 2.80 goals-against average and a .916 save percentage across 15 games (13 starts) on the season, going 8-5-1 in the process. Samsonov has since returned to form after a brief demotion to the AHL while Martin Jones performed well during Woll's absence. As a result, Woll's playing time might be sporadic with the club potentially carrying three goaltenders moving forward.--Brenton Kemp
