Jose Berrios Looking To Build Off His Best Start So Far
3 years agoToronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Jose Berrios had his best start of the year so far in his last trip to the mound against the Seattle Mariners this past Tuesday. He pitched seven scoreless innings and allowed six hits and two walks while striking out four. He entered the game with a 5.82 ERA on the year, but was able to lower his season-long ERA to 4.83 after the start. It's been a dreadful start to the year overall for the 27-year-old. He currently has a career-low strikeout rate of 15.3% and his Statcast metrics are terrifying, including a 6.82 xERA and a .326 xBA against. Both of those metrics rank in the bottom 4% of the league. Berrios will look to build off his previous start in his next start, which will be on Monday against the St. Louis Cardinals.
