Jose Abreu Won't Play Again This Year
6 years agoChicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn said first baseman Jose Abreu (thigh) is done for the rest of the season. Abreu had a rough second half after needing surgery for testicular torsion and then going to the hospital with a severe infection in his thigh. Overall, the slugging Cuban hit .265/.325/.473 with 22 home runs, 78 RBI, 68 runs scored and two stolen bases for a rebuilding White Sox club. They are disappointing numbers for his standards, but Abreu could approach the 30-homer mark again in 2019 with better health and a better lineup around him.
