1 year agoThe Miami Marlins placed outfielder/designated hitter Jorge Soler (oblique) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right-oblique strain and recalled outfielder Dane Myers from the minors in a corresponding move. The Fish also recalled right-hander Edward Cabrera and selected the contract of Devin Smeltzer and designated pitcher Geoff Hartlieb for assignment. Soler returned on Tuesday after a five-game absence due to hip tightness and will now miss even more time. Coupled with pitcher Sandy Alcantara going on the IL on Wednesday with an arm issue, this could be a death blow as the Marlins go for the final wild-card spot in the National League. It will be hard for Miami to replace Soler's 35 home runs and 71 RBI in the middle of their lineup.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
