Jorge Soler Could Hit Second This Year
2 years agoMiami Marlins outfielder Jorge Soler hit second in the team's Grapefruit League game on Thursday against the Washington Nationals and went 2-for-3 with his first home run of the spring, and he could remain in the two-hole during the regular season. Soler mostly hit third last year for the Fish, but new manager Skip Schumaker wants some more power potential for the two spot, which the 31-year-old Soler can provide. Soler knows how to take his walks, but he also doesn't make enough consistent contact when he does swing the bat to be a batting average contributor for fantasy managers. The Cuban slugger hit 48 home runs with the Kansas City Royals in 2019, but he hasn't come close to that mark since and has also battled injuries. Power is about the only thing you're banking on with Soler, but even that has tailed off recently.
