Jorge Lopez Expected To Start Thursday
6 years agoKansas City Royals manager Ned Yost expects starting pitcher Jorge Lopez (rib) to make his scheduled start against the Tigers on Thursday. Lopez threw around 50 pitches in a side session on Tuesday and played catch on Wednesday. He is day-to-day but continues to make progress. Lopez left his start early last Friday after crashing into third baseman Hunter Dozier on an infield single. X-rays and an MRI exam showed no fractures, but he was having trouble breathing deeply. He has gone 2-3 with a 4.64 ERA and 1.27 WHIP in six starts for the Royals this year and might be worth streaming in deeper leagues if he's able to make the start against Detroit.
