5 years agoKansas City Royals pitcher Jorge Lopez was moved to the bullpen a few weeks ago to see if he could be the next KC convert from below-average starter to power reliever. It looks like a pretty big failure so far. After a spotless two-inning appearance to begin his relieving career, Lopez picked up one last start against the Yankees that was a disaster where he gave up five earned runs in one inning of work. Since then, he's thrown seven innings in relief and allowed five more earned runs, including two on Wednesday against the Red Sox. It's still early, but it looks like Lopez is simply a below-average pitcher, no matter when he appears.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
