Jordan Westburg Slumping Early In Spring Training
2 years agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop prospect Jordan Westburg went 1-for-4 with a double on Tuesday versus the Minnesota Twins. Westburg is a consensus Top-100 prospect, but has been off to a slow start in a small sample size this spring. The 24-year-old is just 4-for-18 with two RBI, but it's much too early to question his potential impact in 2023. Westburg has shown plenty of power throughout his minor league with 27 homers and 106 RBI between Double-A and Triple-A in 2022. With fellow shortstop prospect Gunnar Henderson likely to land an Opening Day spot, Westburg may need to switch to second base or third base to see everyday at-bats at the big-league level in 2023. Regardless, Westburg's biggest competition will be infielders Jorge Mateo and Adam Frazier and it might be sooner than later that he forces the Orioles hand, if either player starts slow with the Orioles ready to compete this season. Westburg is a stash in redraft leagues for now, but should be rostered in all dynasty leagues.
