Jordan Westburg Bats Seventh In MLB Debut
1 year agoThe Baltimore Orioles will start rookie call-up Jordan Westburg at second base on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds and left-hander Brandon Williamson, and he will bat seventh in the order behind All-Star center fielder Cedric Mullins. The 24-year-old spent the first half of the season raking at Triple-A Norfolk to the tune of a .295/.372/.567 slash line, including 18 homers, 57 runs, and 54 RBI in just 67 games. Westburg was the third-ranked prospect in Baltimore's organization at the time of his call-up, and the O's will look to him for an offensive spark, much like Cincy did with their early-season promotions of Elly De La Cruz and Matt McLain. The 2020 first-round pick currently grades out as a 55 raw power, 50 speed, and 40 fielding prospect prior to his first MLB at-bat.
