Jordan Reed Still Dealing With Pain
6 years agoWashington Redskins tight end Jordan Reed (toes) is still fighting pain in his toes from offseason surgery and is rebuilding strength in his legs, but he hasn't missed a single game in 10 weeks. He currently has 37 catches for 391 yards and one touchdown. “I feel like I’m starting to come over the curve,” Reed said. “[But] I’m still dealing with the pain. I have scar tissue in both my toes, and I’ve got to run routes and cut hard and slam my feet every day. I’m starting to learn how to manage it, find what works for me and what takes away the pain.” He continues to be seen by doctors after he couldn't walk for seven weeks in the offseason. Reed is averaging 6.5 targets per game, which is up from 6.0 in 2017. However, quarterback Alex Smith has been a pretty poor passer this year and hasn't gelled with Reed. Defenses are also playing less man coverage against Reed after he feasted off that coverage in recent seasons. When they do play man coverage, they are using cornerbacks and safeties that are just as quick as Reed. He remains a TE1 for fantasy owners, but hopefully he'll pick things up as he gets closer to 100 percent health to close out the season.
