2 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals pitcher Jordan Montgomery is starting Thursday's contest against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates. The left-hander is enjoying a fine start to his season as he's turned in a 2.25 ERA/2.16 FIP with an 18.8% K-BB% across two starts and 12 innings pitched. The southpaw posted a career-best 3.48 ERA with a sterling 5% BB% while posting career-highs in starts (32) and innings pitched (178 1/3) in the 2022 campaign. Montgomery takes on a Pirates offense that ranks 21st with a .313 wOBA on the season but their 22% K% ranks in the top half of the league. Nonetheless, Montgomery makes for a fairly safe fantasy option in a home start against what should be a bottom-10 offense this season.--Brenton Kemp
