Jordan Montgomery Takes Tough Loss Saturday
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery pitched well but was saddled with the loss Saturday against the Boston Red Sox. Montgomery recorded a quality start, going six innings and allowing three runs on eight hits while walking a pair. He struck out five batters and generated 14 whiffs on 95 pitches, mixing his pitches well to keep the Red Sox off balance. The Red Sox had five infield hits despite registering just an 87.8 MPH average exit velocity against Montgomery, showing some of the poor luck that the lefty experienced. June has been his best month, as he has pitched to a 3.77 ERA in 28 2/3 innings with a 27:10 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Montgomery will get a pretty tough matchup in his next time out against the Los Angeles Angels, though he'll pitch at Yankee Stadium, where he's had success this season.
