Jordan Montgomery Fans Nine In Thursday's Loss
3 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery recorded a quality start despite taking the loss Thursday against the Seattle Mariners. Montgomery pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on four hits with two walks issued. The lefty struck out nine batters, generating 14 whiffs on 105 pitches. Montgomery surrendered a pair of home runs in the first and second innings but settled in nicely after that, yielding just an 86.3 MPH average exit velocity against. He was unfortunate enough to go against Logan Gilbert, who completely silenced the Yankee bats all afternoon. Despite his middling 3-4 record, Montgomery ranks among the top-55 starters in baseball in ERA, WHIP, and strikeouts, giving him some value as a back-end starter for fantasy managers.
