Jordan Lyles To Throw Simulated Game This Week
6 years agoPittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jordan Lyles (side), who is starting the year on the 10-day injured list, is scheduled to throw a six-inning simulated game this week, according to director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk. Lyles is expected to be the team's fifth starter when he's healthy, but he suffered from pain in his right side this spring and had to be delayed. The right-hander will throw in a game sometime next week, but where that happens is to be determined and the Pirates won't need a fifth starter until April 7. The 28-year-old had a 4.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 8.6 K/9 in 87 2/3 innings last year with the Padres and Brewers and will only be an option in NL-only leagues when he returns.
