Jordan Hicks Diagnosed With a Torn UCL
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals closer Jordan Hicks was diagnosed with a Torn UCL in his throwing arm. Hicks was originally diagnosed with triceps tendinitis, but further testing revealed the tear in the ligament. The UCL tear diagnosis usually leads to Tommy John Surgery, although rehab is sometimes an option. Either way, Hicks is almost certainly done for the season and likely for most of next season as well. The Cardinals will likely turn to either Carlos Martinez or John Gant in the ninth inning, but could also be stronger players in the market for relief help at the deadline.
