Jordan Hicks Blows Wednesday's Save
1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals reliever Jordan Hicks came into Wednesday's contest against the Miami Marlins in the ninth inning with a one-run lead. He failed to hold their offense at bay, blowing the save and losing the 10-9 game, as he gave up two runs on two hits with one walk and one strikeout. It was Hicks' first blown save since the beginning of May, and after Ryan Helsley (forearm) went down with an injury, he's been the primary ninth-inning arm. The right-hander now owns a 4.15 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and 33.3% strikeout rate with five saves across 34.2 innings of work. Fantasy managers can expect Hicks to continue earning save opportunities and should keep starting the right-hander in most formats.
