Jonathan Villar Remains A Special Talent For Mets
3 years agoNew York Mets third baseman Jonathan Villar went 2-for-4 with a double, a walk, and a run scored in the Mets 3-2 win over the Cubs on Tuesday. Villar remains an excellent table-setter for the Mets primarily playing third base while J.D. Davis (hand) remains sidelined on the injured list. Over his last 15 games, Villar is slashing .353/.450/.569, with three home runs, eight RBI, 13 runs scored, and three steals. Once Davis returns from the IL, the Mets may have a very difficult time sending Villar back to the bench. He has been a critical component to their recent success which has propelled them to first place in the N.L. East. Villar remains a must-start who can help fantasy managers in all categories, particularly in on-base-percentage leagues, while he gets regular playing time at the top of the Mets lineup.
