Jonathan Schoop Could See Time At Shortstop
6 years agoMilwaukee Brewers second baseman Jonathan Schoop, who was acquired from the Orioles on Tuesday, is expected to be activated on Wednesday. Manager Craig Counsell hinted that Schoop could be seeing some starts at shortstop. "I do think you’ll see him at shortstop," Counsell said. "It’s something that we’ve thought of that’s a possibility, for sure." Schoop has only two starts at the position in the major leagues, but it would make sense to keep Travis Shaw on the infield. Orlando Arcia has a nice glove, but he just hasn't hit enough to stay in the lineup regularly. Schoop has been one of the hotter hitters so far in the second half, and adding shortstop eligibility would only raise his value that much more this season and next.
