Jonathan Bernier Announces Retirement
1 year agoGoaltender Jonathan Bernier, who won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Los Angeles Kings in 2012, has announced his retirement from the NHL. "After 14 years, it's time for me to hang up the pads," Bernier wrote in a social media post. "There are no words to express my gratitude to everyone who has been part of my hockey journey since day one. Without all of you I couldn't have done it." Bernier played for six different franchises over the course of his career, last suiting up for the New Jersey Devils in 2021-22. The 35-year-old missed the entire 2022-23 campaign with a hip issue. Bernier wraps things up with a 165-163-40 career record. He had 18 shutouts in the league and registered a 2.77 goals-against average with a .912 save percentage.
