Jon Lester To Start Wild-Card Game
6 years agoChicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester will start the National League wild-card game against the Rockies on Tuesday, with Cole Hamels available out of the bullpen. The experienced left-hander makes for a good choice in the all-important game. He's 18-6 on the year with a 3.32 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 149 strikeouts in 181 2/3 innings. Lester has struggled a bit more at home (3.71 ERA, 1.37 WHIP) than on the road (2.87 ERA, 1.24 WHIP) this year. It will be his 22nd playoff start and second in a wild-card game. He has a tough task ahead of him, but Lester is usually up to the task.
