Jon Gray Hit Hard By Diamondbacks
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray took a no-decision against Arizona on Wednesday, but that's only because his offense bailed him out. Gray allowed four earned runs in four innings of work, continuing a poor couple of weeks for him. Since August 27, Gray has only recorded one quality start in his last four outings, and he's got an 8/12 BB/K ratio during those appearances. Following his reintroduction to the majors after the All Star break, it seemed like Gray had solved his issues, but recently, he's been very out of sorts. Even when he struggled early in the season, he at least struck out a lot of batters. Wednesday's start was the first time he'd topped 9 K/9 in six outings. For those teams in the playoffs, Gray should be avoided at this point.
