New Jersey Devils defenseman John Marino missed Wednesday's practice with an upper-body injury and is considered day-to-day. The team returns to action Thursday against Nashville and Marino could miss his first game of the season. The former Penguin is having a nice debut campaign in Newark, boasting eight points, 28 shots, 25 hits and 29 blocks with a plus-15 rating through 23 games. He has mostly skated with Ryan Graves on the second defensive pairing, averaging a team-high 21:47 minutes. There's going to be plenty of extra work available for the rest of the blue line if Marino has to spend some time on the sidelines.--Taavi Pailk
