Joey Lucchesi With Another Strong Start On Friday
3 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Joey Lucchesi had another solid outing on Friday against the Nationals pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings in the Mets 1-0 loss. Lucchesi struck out five while allowing just four hits and two walks. It was his fifth solid outing in a row, though he has not pitched beyond 5 1/3 IP in any of the starts over this period. Over his last seven games (including five starts), Lucchesi has posted an impressive 2.28 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, to go with 29 strikeouts in 27 2/3 IP. Lucchesi could be a useful addition in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats to help with ratios while his hot streak continues. Of course, he won't provide fantasy managers with deep starts, thus minimizing win and strikeout totals, and his value in leagues that have quality starts as a scoring category.
