Joey Lucchesi Could Make Spot Start Friday
1 year agoThe New York Mets may call up left-hander Joey Lucchesi from Triple-A Syracuse in order to make a spot start this week to give right-hander Kodai Senga an extra day of rest in the starting rotation. Lucchesi has been on the seven-day injured list in the minors recently, but he's made two rehab starts with High-A Brooklyn and appears to be healthy now. If the Mets call on the 30-year-old southpaw, he'd likely be making a spot start against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday, which is Senga's turn in the rotation. In five starts for the Mets earlier this year, Lucchesi allowed 11 earned runs on 22 hits (four homers) while walking eight and striking out 17 in 22 1/3 innings pitched. He'll be a low-upside streamer in deeper leagues and DFS if he starts on Friday.
