Joey Gallo Still Hoping To Return This Year
5 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo (hand) has been swinging a bat, but he's not taking batting practice and there is still some soreness in his right hand after he had surgery to fix a broken hamate bone. The Rangers want to give him a chance to play again this year. Gallo will have to play through pain and it'll depend on his pain tolerance, but he can't re-injure the hand. You have to keep Gallo stashed for his elite power just in case he makes it back next month. The 25-year-old had been making real strides with his strikeouts and he was hitting .253/.389/.598 with 22 home runs, 54 runs, 49 RBI and four steals in 70 games before his injury. Don't expect the power to come back immediately if he returns and plays through pain, however.
