Joey Gallo Reinstated And Starting Wednesday
2 years agoMinnesota Twins first baseman Joey Gallo (intercostal) was reinstated from the injured list on Wednesday and outfielder Kyle Garlick was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. Gallo is back in the starting lineup on Wednesday against right-hander Corey Kluber and the Boston Red Sox, starting at first base and hitting seventh in the batting order for the Twins. The 29-year-old left-handed slugger missed a bit of time due to a mild right intercostal strain, but he's back now and should be the primary first baseman against right-handed pitchers in Minnesota. He was off to a fine start in his first 20 plate appearances, too, clubbing three homers and driving in seven. Gallo has a lot of swing and miss in his game, but he's an elite power source when he's clicking.
