5 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo (oblique) is ready to start taking batting practice on the field on Saturday and has been hitting in the cages without issues. The left-handed power hitter is dealing with a strained left oblique but could start facing live pitching on Tuesday in Arizona. He's hoping to return by next weekend against the White Sox at home. Gallo still swings and misses a lot, but he's making strides in that area and is hitting .276/.421/.653 with 17 homers, 41 runs, 41 RBI and three steals in what has been a breakout season. His elite power plays in all leagues, and it'll just be icing on the cake if he can keep his average at a respectable level.
